Nurturing Hearts - An Erasmus+ Training for Youth Workers

PANGAEA had the privilege of representing Denmark at the Nurturing Hearts project, hosted in Malta.

Nurturing Hearts - An Erasmus+ Training for Youth Workers

The training was designed to equip youth workers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to mentor disadvantaged young people — particularly those experiencing homelessness or living without family support. The program combined theory with practical exercises, ensuring participants could translate learning into effective practice.

Focus

  • Mentoring disadvantaged young people

  • Addressing homelessness and lack of family support

  • Building youth worker competences in communication, trauma-awareness, and resilience

“It felt almost too good to be true — the organizers were incredibly loving and supportive. They are true mentors for troubled youth, and their belief in teaching with love and kindness really reflects in everything they do.”

Impact

The Erasmus+ Nurturing Hearts project stood out for its experiential approach. By engaging in role-play, reflection, and peer learning, participants not only developed new competences but also gained the confidence to apply them in real-life mentoring environments.

For PANGAEA, participation in this initiative reinforced our commitment to advancing youth work interventions that promote social inclusion, resilience, and opportunity for disadvantaged young people across Europe.
