In January 2026, Pangaea Youth Network joined Nexos for Future, an Erasmus+ Partnership Building Activity in Spain, to strengthen international cooperation that directly supports youth inclusion, participation, and quality youth work at local level.

Nexos for Future – Building Strong Partnerships for Youth Work

What happened & why

From 8–14 January 2026, Pangaea Youth Network took part in Nexos for Future in Cabana de Bergantiños (Galicia, Spain). The activity brought together youth workers and NGO representatives from across Europe to build strong partnerships for future Erasmus+ projects. PYN was represented by Jurgita Dzeveckaite, General Manager, and Jaime, Vice President of PYN. The youth work need behind this activity was clear: stronger international cooperation leads to better, more inclusive opportunities for young people locally.

What young people did & youth participation

Although this was a professional-level activity, the focus stayed firmly on young people. Participants worked together to design future projects that young people would later take part in. They exchanged practices on inclusion, digital skills, sustainability, and youth participation, and co-created concrete project ideas that aim to give young people more voice, confidence, and access to international learning. Youth needs and realities were constantly brought into discussions, shaping the direction of future partnerships.

What was practiced & a real moment

Throughout the week, participants practiced cooperation, communication, and trust-building. Sessions were balanced with informal moments — shared meals, group activities, and time for honest conversations. One evening, after a long day of project design, participants stayed together talking about challenges youth face in their local communities. Laughter, shared stories, and openness turned professional contacts into real partnerships built on trust.

Main Takeaways:

  • Young people benefit when youth workers build strong, value-based partnerships.

  • International cooperation improves the quality and inclusion of local youth activities.

  • Trust and connection are essential for sustainable youth work projects.

  • Well-prepared partnerships lead to more meaningful Erasmus+ opportunities for youth.

Why It Matters

For youth work, strong partnerships are not optional — they are essential. When organizations understand each other, share values, and trust one another, they can create projects that truly respond to young people’s needs. Activities like Nexos for Future make this possible by giving space to build relationships before projects begin.

For PYN’s target group — local and international youth aged 18–35 in Horsens and nearby areas — this matters directly. Strong partnerships mean more inclusive projects, better support for international and local youth, and activities that reduce isolation while encouraging participation and active citizenship. Erasmus+ values become real when cooperation leads to concrete opportunities for young people.

When partnerships are built with care, young people feel the impact long after the project ends.
