Discovering the Magic of Erasmus+: An Interview with Wojciech

At Pangaea Human, we love celebrating the journeys of young people who step outside their comfort zones and embrace the power of international collaboration. Today, we’re thrilled to share an inspiring conversation with Wojciech Padilla Chrobok, a 25-year-old student at VIA University College, who joined the 🌟 Get Your Own Picture 🌟 project in Türkiye through the Erasmus+ programme.

His experience offers a glimpse into how Erasmus+ projects can spark creativity, build friendships, and broaden horizons — all while having fun.

Discovering the Magic of Erasmus+: An Interview with Wojciech

From Knowing Nothing to Joining Three Projects

Wojciech’s journey with Erasmus+ began in late 2023 after hearing about the opportunities through a friend. Since then, his curiosity has led him to participate in two youth exchanges and one training course. He chose the "Get Your Own Picture" project in Türkiye primarily because a close friend was attending and he had always wanted to visit the country. The project's theme—creating short movies in international teams—offered the perfect mix of fun, good weather, and creative work.

One-Minute Movies and the Reality of Travel

The core of the project was working in international groups to produce short films with self-chosen themes. One of the highlights was a fast-paced challenge where groups had only one hour to create a one-minute movie based on random prompts. Wojciech fondly remembers a creative film about "summoning" a wizard to light a cigarette as a standout moment.

Regarding the practical side of being abroad:

  • Planning: He handled travel and budgeting by making a rough plan and buying tickets within a single week.

  • Challenges: While everything went smoothly with the travel, he noted that the food quality could have been better, though he attributed this to the organizers rather than the location.

Why You Should Disconnect to Reconnect

For Wojciech, the most valuable lesson learned was that "bad conditions make good connections" and that good company makes any experience better. He emphasizes that meeting people from different cultures is an amazing way to grow. He highly recommends Erasmus+ to others as it provides a unique chance to:

  • Make friends from many different countries easily.

  • Disconnect from everyday life and discover the world through shared experiences.

  • Embrace creativity while building lasting international bonds.

"Bad conditions make good connections. Erasmus+ is about finding amazing people in unexpected places."
