Pangaea’s 2nd Birthday Celebration and Outdoor Activities

To celebrate Pangaea Youth’s second birthday, around thirty community members came together for a vibrant day that began with a workshop on the importance of youth work in local communities. Young people were invited to share their voices, contribute ideas, and be heard, underlining the value of their role in shaping community life. The celebration continued with icebreakers, outdoor games, and a festive gathering, showing how informal youth work activities can build confidence, strengthen teamwork, and create a stronger sense of belonging.

What happened:

The celebration kicked off with Human Bingo, a fun icebreaker designed to help participants get to know each other and build initial connections. Each participant moved around the space, asking questions and discovering interesting facts about their peers. This playful start immediately created a welcoming and energetic atmosphere. After the icebreaker, participants engaged in outdoor games and team challenges, ranging from collaborative tasks to light-hearted competitive activities. These games encouraged teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving while keeping the energy high and the mood playful. Before the birthday cake was served and the community gathered around the sausage grill, everyone took part in a workshop on the importance of youth work in local communities. The session gave young people space to share their voices, contribute ideas, and be heard, highlighting how their perspectives matter in shaping community life. The day then moved into a festive mood as Pangaea Youth’s second birthday was celebrated with cake, snacks, and social time, reinforcing a strong sense of belonging and togetherness.

Why it matters

By combining structured icebreakers, dynamic outdoor activities, and informal celebrations, the event demonstrated the power of youth empowerment, active participation, and inclusion. Participants not only strengthened communication and teamwork skills but also gained confidence in interacting with peers in a supportive environment. The birthday celebration highlighted how informal, fun-focused events can complement traditional youth work by fostering social bonds and a sense of belonging. Activities like these reflect core Erasmus+ values of collaboration, engagement, and community-building, showing that even playful, informal moments can have a lasting impact on young people and the local community. Celebrating Pangaea’s second birthday in this way reinforced that youth work is not just about workshops or training -it’s about creating spaces where young people can thrive, connect, and feel empowered.
