Stronger Together in the Kitchen

Expanding Our Reach: New Faces and Stronger Partnerships

The latest Community Cooking workshop welcomed 20 participants, marking a significant milestone in our community growth. An impressive 80% of attendees were joining the workshop for the first time, and over half were visiting the Pangaea Youth Space for the very first time. This influx of new energy proves that our activities are becoming an inclusive entry point for local youth.

Our network of support is also growing. This week, an additional Netto in Horsens and a 365 grocery store joined our food rescue effort. Thanks to these abundant donations, participants were able to take leftovers home, multiplying the positive impact of the event.

Mini World Cuisine: Leadership in the Kitchen

In the kitchen, participants teamed up to create meals inspired by their international backgrounds, turning donated groceries into a vibrant "mini world cuisine". The experience went far beyond cooking:

  • Shared Responsibility: Everyone participated in cooking and cleaning, fostering a genuine sense of teamwork.

  • Proactive Leadership: Some participants volunteered to ensure everyone felt welcome, while others took charge of photography to document the experience.

  • Skill Building: These roles allowed youth to naturally practice leadership through creativity and community care.

Connecting Practical Skills with Erasmus+ Values

Alongside the culinary work, the group engaged in thematic discussions on sustainability and food waste. These conversations connected daily practical skills to larger questions of community care and solidarity. This approach not only builds confidence but also nurtures inclusion and solidarity—core Erasmus+ values that strengthen our community bonds in Horsens.

"I loved how we shared more than just food — we also shared our cultures and learned new ideas about living sustainably."

Help Us Grow: Join the Volunteer Club

To keep this momentum going, we invite more young people to join our volunteer club and co-create these initiatives. We are also currently seeking sponsors to support the purchase of a cargo bike. This will allow our volunteers to collect donated groceries in a more sustainable and efficient way.

Together, we can build a greener and more empowered community!
