Responding to a Youth Work Need: Expression and Confidence
Responding to a Youth Work Need: Expression and Confidence
This Erasmus+ training course in Rome brought together youth workers to respond to a key youth work need: helping young people express themselves and navigate digital spaces with confidence. The project focused on storytelling as a tool to support participation, inclusion, and active citizenship.
Learning by Doing and Sharing Methods
During the training, participants learned by doing and by sharing methods they can bring back to young people. They practiced story circles, interviewing techniques, and created digital content such as reels, photo stories, and podcasts using simple tools like their phones.
Building Media Literacy and Responsible Voices
The training focused strongly on media literacy and responsible storytelling. Participants explored how to recognize misinformation, question online content, and create respectful narratives that include different voices. These skills are directly transferable to young people, helping them build confidence, think critically, and feel heard.
One moment that stood out was when participants shared their personal stories in small groups, there was silence, attention, and respect, showing how powerful storytelling can be in youth work.
