Neon Lights and Banana Cake: A Recap of our "Taxi Driver" Movie Night

On the evening of March 6th, 2026, the Pangaea office at Kamtjatka 8 transformed into a small piece of 1970s New York. We gathered for one of our most anticipated Offline Hours of the season: a screening of Martin Scorsese’s masterpiece, Taxi Driver.

Neon Lights and Banana Cake: A Recap of our "Taxi Driver" Movie Night

The Atmosphere

Nine of us settled in, ready for a dive into the gritty, neon-soaked streets of Manhattan. But before the first frame even hit the screen, the real "Offline Hours" spirit took over. As it turns out, you can't have a classic cinema night without the essentials:

  • The Feast: We fueled up with plenty of pizza, while everyone contributed to a mountain of popcorn and sodas.

  • The Secret Star: The undisputed highlight of the menu wasn't the pizza, but a delicious homemade banana cake that made the rounds twice!

The "Behind the Scenes" Drama

Every great screening has its technical hiccups, and ours was no exception. Our intern Pablo took on the role of technical host, battling a rebellious projector and a maze of cables.

While for a moment we thought we might need Travis Bickle’s intensity to get the audio working, Pablo’s persistence paid off. We shared a lot of laughs during the "intermission" caused by the tech glitches, proving that at Pangaea, the company is just as important as the content.

A Choice by the People

This screening wasn’t just a random pick; it was a victory for democracy! Taxi Driver emerged as the winner after a heated round of voting across our Instagram and WhatsApp channels. It’s clear our community has a taste for the classics, and we love that our "Offline Hours" are shaped directly by your votes. Seeing the film that you chose bring everyone together (along with that banana cake) made the night even more special.

What’s Next? (Friday the 13th!)

The projector is cooling down, but not for long. Our next Movie Night is happening this Friday, March 13th—just two days away! While Pablo is passing the torch (and the technical cables) to a new host yet to be revealed, the theme is already set. In honor of Women’s Empowerment, we’ll be screening a film that celebrates strength, resilience, and female leadership.

Who will be the host? Which movie will it be? Stay tuned to our social media to find out and grab your spot!
