Blue & Green Futures: Biodiversity, Digital Storytelling, and Inclusion
Training Course, Non-Formal Education
)
Description
Reunion Island’s unique mix of marine and volcanic ecosystems makes it an ideal living classroom to connect environmental education, digital storytelling/citizen science, and social inclusion. Youth workers need practical tools to translate climate and biodiversity issues into engaging learning, while ensuring young people—especially those with fewer opportunities—can participate meaningfully and have their voices heard.
Aims & Objectives
● Environmental Education & Climate Resilience – Strengthen youth workers’ capacity to teach biodiversity, conservation, and climate adaptation using experiential, place-based methods.
● Digital Storytelling & Citizen Science – Equip participants to collect, interpret, and communicate local environmental data (e.g., simple biodiversity counts, litter audits) and turn it into compelling stories that inspire action.
● Inclusive Participation & Youth Voice – Embed equity and accessibility in program design so diverse young people can co-create solutions and lead local eco-initiatives.
